Throwback Thursday

Dizin, Elbrus Mountains, Iran 1977

When we talk of going skiing, we think of charming little villages in the Alps or perhaps the Rockies.I learned how to ski in Iran when I was 15. Dizin was itttle village in the Elbrus Mountains with quaint little chalets. It could have been anyplace in the European Alps. I spent about 2 1/2 years there (not in the mountains skiing, but in Tehran) with my parents at a time when Iran was a fascinating country with amazing nature and  open to the western world.

    • That of course is true, I do not know what it is like in Iran today. I have heard from friends that it still is a beautiful place to visit. Internal developments over the years however make me think, it’s not as favorable as it used to be.
